Home Ritual

I go home every Friday night to spend the weekends with my family, my parents.

Sometimes people cannot understand why I need to leave Singapore every weekend.
I have friends who always ask me out on Saturdays when I am not in Singapore even though I told them I have to be back during the weekends.

Yesterday, a friend asked me out to church on Saturday. I had to turn down her invitation. I may never be able to attend. I'm not upset because I value my family more.

But I will continue this weekly ritual as long as I can. Without it, I am like a spinning top that twirls out of balance (even when I am sometimes breathless in the presence of family).

How many friends or people around me can boast of such a unique double household lifestyle where one shuttles between two countries where home is in order for life to be normal?
Like I always told myself, "there's a million ways to live life, you don't have to live a life like others" so I am finally embracing this lifestyle and realising it's importance.

This is my life, I have to embrace it and stop wishing for a "more normal" life like others because normalcy is harder to find that I used to think.
